In these 46 years from the inauguration of the Escola de Canteiros in 1979 to the present day, many things have happened…
15 January 1979: creation of the Escola de Canteiros, attached to the Ministry of Culture.
Creation by the Deputation of Pontevedra of a foundation to manage the School. It is located in the premises of the Monastery of Poio, donated by the Mercedarian priests.
On 13 October 2000, the new Stonemasons' School was inaugurated in Boavista on the land donated by the Community of Montes de San Salvador, with contributions from the Regional Ministries of Industry and Culture of the Xunta de Galicia. The author of the project is the architect Enrique Barreiro Álvarez.
On 3 August 2023, DECREE 119/2023, of 20 July, was published in the DOG, which assumes the transfer to the Autonomous Community of Galicia of the functions, services and personal and material resources of the Escuela de Canteros de Poio provided by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra and agrees to its transformation into a public teaching centre dependent on the Xunta de Galicia.
On 30 August 2024, Decree 176/2024 of 8 July was published in the Official Journal of Galicia (DOG), creating the Integrated Vocational Training Centre of Cantería de Galicia.
